Build a future. Practice living it.
High School should give learners real chances to apply knowledge, create value, develop judgment, contribute to their communities and prepare for life beyond graduation.
More than completing credits.
Learners engage in literature and rhetoric, mathematics matched to readiness, laboratory-centered sciences, history, civics, economics, health, interdisciplinary research and authentic assessments. They build research portfolios and practice defending ideas with evidence.
Grades 9–10 emphasize structured inquiry and developing independent habits. Grades 11–12 move toward longer projects, capstone investigations, intentional postsecondary preparation and greater learner leadership.
What should a graduate take into the world?
Our vision is for every graduate to have practiced real responsibilities, built a cumulative portfolio and taken meaningful steps toward a self-directed, connected adult life.
- 01
Start and operate a business
Every learner works toward designing, launching and operating an authentic venture: research, pricing, operations, branding, intellectual property, accounting, customer relationships and the possibility of continuing or selling it. Commercial success is not guaranteed.
- 02
Invest with understanding
Portfolio construction, diversification, stocks, bonds, funds, real estate, trading, cryptocurrency and risk management, learned through research and simulations. Real accounts are pursued only where suitable, lawful and family-supervised.
- 03
Understand personal and business money
Budgets, taxes, saving, banking, credit reports and scores, borrowing, insurance, bookkeeping, cash flow, business credit and long-range planning.
- 04
Explore college and skilled trades
Learners who want these paths may pursue eligible dual enrollment, college credit, trade training or certification through external providers, subject to availability, eligibility and successful completion.
- 05
Contribute and build relationships
Meaningful volunteer experiences, community projects, mentoring relationships, professional conversations and service-oriented work.
- 06
Develop emotional intelligence and balance
Self-awareness, conflict resolution, emotional regulation, relationship skills, wellness, reflective decision-making and knowing when to seek support.
These are educational goals and experiences, not guarantees of profitability, investment returns, specific external credentials, financial stability or outcomes beyond the learner’s and school’s control.
A portfolio that shows what you can do.
Learners document academic work, investigations, business records, market analyses, practical experiences, service, mentorship reflections and a senior capstone. Their portfolios support meaningful graduation conferences and future planning.
We do not expect perfection at eighteen.
We expect sincere effort, growing self-awareness and practical experience with responsibilities that matter.
Our aim is for learners to leave better equipped to navigate finances, relationships, work, learning, personal decisions and the needs of others.
