Book Five · Middle School · Ages 11–14
Mae and the Echoes We Choose
In a dry year, Mae is chosen to lead the plan to save the water, just as her own careless words, carried by a mimicking jay, crack her oldest friendship.
“What I send out comes back. I choose what I send.”

Inside the story
What readers practise with Mae.
Each book carries a quiet Montessori lesson. Readers meet it in the story first, then practise it in their own work.
I can analyse a retold message for omission, addition and shift in meaning, citing the exact words.
I can distinguish a speaker's intent from the impact of their words, using evidence from Chapters 4 and 5.
I can draft a repair that takes responsibility without excuses.
