The Montessori Method of education is an educational approach focused on individuality of a child, presented by the Italian physician Dr. Maria Montessori. It is a student-led and self-directed method of learning but guided, evaluated, and enriched by experienced and compassionate teachers, and peer leadership in a nurturing environment.
Montessori Method of learning promotes holistic, self-motivated development of children in mental, emotional, social, and physical aspects. It seeks to enhance the natural interest and skills of students rather than using traditional teaching methods. It emphasizes that children are self-motivated, curious and able to learn but learning becomes durable and effective if guided and supervised by professional teachers in a well-supported and enriched learning environment.
Montessori education develops empathy, social justice, independence, and a love of learning in children for a lifetime. Due to—support and freedom to question, in-depth research, and communication—Montessori students grow up to be confident, enthusiastic, disciplined citizens and citizens accountable to both themselves and their community.
STEAM education approach, that integrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics into “interdependent” learning units based on real world applications to develop critical thinking, consciousness, conversational and analytical skills for socially adjusted living rather than teaching them as separate and discrete subjects.
STEAM education sparks an interest and lifelong love of the arts and sciences in children from an early age. Teaching appropriate, necessary skills that will prepare students to become innovators in an ever-changing world is important, not only for the future of the students themselves but also for the future of us all.
