Flexible, Kind & Brave: Literacy and Movement
A gentle four-week class for our youngest learners. Each week we read one story from Frog and Toad Together by Arnold Lobel, then move, breathe and sing to practice a life skill from the story. Students leave each class with a simple habit to try at home.

What learners practice
Three big ideas, one story at a time
Each story gives us a small, real moment to talk about. Then we practice it with our bodies and our words.
Flexibility
When plans change, we can change too. Students practice stretching, pausing and trying a new way.
Kindness
Good friends notice, help and share. Students practice kind words and helping hands.
Bravery
Brave means doing it even when you feel a little scared. Students practice brave breaths and brave words.
Listening and retelling
Students listen to a read-aloud, then retell the story in order with pictures and movement.
Words for feelings
Each week adds a few feeling words that children can use at home and with friends.
Four weeks
One story each week
Every class follows the same calm rhythm, so children know what comes next.
- Week 1
A List
Making a plan, and staying flexible when the plan blows away. We practice a calm reset and a stretch sequence.
- Week 2
The Garden and Cookies
Patience and self-control. We plant a seed at home and practice waiting with our breath.
- Week 3
Dragons and Giants
Being brave together. We practice brave poses, brave breaths and brave words.
- Week 4
The Dream
Kindness between friends. We make a friendship card for someone we care about.

The Montessori way
Young children learn through their bodies, through repetition and through real moments. Each class moves from a story to talk to practice, so the life skill becomes something the child can do, not only something they heard. Grace and courtesy are part of every class.
Questions families ask
Good to know
Does my child need to read?
No. The Guide reads aloud and children follow the pictures. Early readers can read along.
Do we need the book?
It helps. A library copy of Frog and Toad Together is fine. The Guide shows the pages during class.
What if my child is shy?
That is welcome. Children can watch, move along and share when they are ready. There is no pressure to speak.
