Who We Serve · Preschool 3, Preschool 4 & Kindergarten
Montessori in Preschool & Kindergarten
Preschool 3, Preschool 4, and Kindergarten are years of discovery, movement, language, and growing independence. At Quantum Montessori, we guide children through purposeful, hands-on learning that builds academic foundations alongside the everyday skills they need to participate confidently at home and with others.
Our youngest learners need active adult involvement. Home Guides help prepare materials, support routines, and bring learning into daily life. Books, conversation, movement, nature, and practical experiences remain essential parts of learning, including when guidance is delivered online.
Kindergarten placement
Which Kindergarten Group Is Right for Your Child?
Kindergarten appears in both our Preschool–Kindergarten and elementary pathways because children do not all reach the next stage of learning at the same time. Our Preschool–Kindergarten group offers foundational and increasingly advanced work within an early childhood environment. Some older Kindergarten learners are ready for Elementary 1, where inquiry, collaboration, and responsibility for work begin to expand.
Reading early does not automatically mean a child is ready to move groups. We consider academic understanding, developmental readiness, participation, and the support each learner needs. Our guides work with Home Guides to identify an appropriate placement.
Preschool 3
Children begin by learning how to choose an activity, carry materials carefully, follow a short sequence, and return their work. Pouring, sorting, washing, dressing practice, and caring for their surroundings help develop coordination, concentration, and independence.
Language grows through stories, songs, conversation, naming objects, and listening for sounds in words. Children explore quantity through counting real objects and matching small groups. Sensorial experiences invite them to notice and compare size, shape, color, texture, and sound.
Preschool 4
As readiness develops, children extend their concentration and complete more involved work. They practice identifying beginning sounds, connecting sounds with letters, forming letters, and building words when prepared. Read-alouds and conversation strengthen vocabulary, listening comprehension, and the ability to explain an idea.
Mathematics includes counting with one-to-one correspondence, matching numerals to quantities, comparing amounts, recognizing patterns, and exploring shapes. Concrete materials introduce combining and separating quantities. Practical Life work adds more steps and greater responsibility.
Kindergarten
Kindergarten learners strengthen sound awareness, letter knowledge, word building, early reading, and handwriting. They discuss stories, retell events, and develop written expression from labels and words toward sentences as their skills grow.
In mathematics, learners build number sense, explore place value, and use concrete materials to understand addition and subtraction. Measurement, geometry, patterns, and mathematical language connect these ideas to everyday experiences.
Learning across all three groups
Science and cultural studies introduce plants, animals, weather, geography, communities, and care for the Earth. Art, music, movement, and outdoor exploration support creativity and observation. Children also practice taking turns, expressing needs, respecting boundaries, and working through disagreements with adult guidance.
These descriptions show a learning progression, not a checklist every child must reach on the same birthday. Our guides observe readiness and adjust instruction. Some older Kindergarten learners are ready for Elementary 1; placement considers academic skills, independence, and social and emotional development together.
