Floating Hearts and The Intentional Family Experience: Supporting Children and the Adults Who Love Them
What Floating Hearts is, how it helps our students grow in emotional intelligence, and why we partnered with The Intentional Family Experience to support parents too.

At Quantum Montessori, we have always believed that education is about the whole child. Reading, math and science matter enormously. So do the skills that make learning possible: understanding your feelings, managing stress, working through conflict, and believing you are capable.
That belief is the reason Floating Hearts exists. It is also the reason we are proud to share our partnership with The Intentional Family Experience, a sister business created alongside Quantum Montessori to support the adults in our children’s lives.
Here is what each one is, and how they work together.
What Floating Hearts is
Floating Hearts is Quantum Montessori’s social-emotional learning program. It is woven through the school day in the way our Guides speak with students, in Grace and Courtesy lessons, and in our Kindness and Community Building Circles.
Its centerpiece is a monthly class called Harmony in Action, for students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Each 70-minute live class blends Montessori principles with social-emotional learning, emotional intelligence and literacy.
Power Traits
Every month focuses on a theme and a character trait we call a Power Trait. Students might explore managing anxiety and stress while building courage, or resolving conflicts with empathy while practicing compassion. Across the year, they work through twelve themes, including making responsible choices, overcoming negative thinking, embracing feedback, building resilience, healthy boundaries, communication and leadership, self-worth, and understanding anger.
Stories at the center
Each month, students read a carefully chosen book connected to the theme. They respond through Montessori literacy lessons, art projects, journaling and writing. Stories give children a safe way to talk about big feelings: it is often easier to discuss a character’s fear than your own, and the conversation still reaches the heart.
A simple, steady structure
A Harmony in Action class moves through five parts: a warm welcome, a Montessori literacy lesson with an activity, an interactive SEL lesson, a Power Trait exploration with practical exercises, and a closing reflection. Children know what to expect, which helps them relax and participate.
Badges and celebration
Students earn a badge each month for the theme and Power Trait they explored. They add it to their Badge Collection Chart, and at the end of the year we celebrate together as students share their collections and reflect on how they have grown.
Why social-emotional learning matters
Children who can name their emotions are better able to manage them. Children who can calm themselves can return to learning after a frustrating moment. Children who practice empathy and clear communication build friendships more easily and resolve conflicts with less harm.
These are not soft extras. They are foundations for academic success, healthy relationships and a satisfying life. In a Montessori environment, where children are trusted with freedom and responsibility, these skills are especially important, and they are practiced every day.
Why parents need support too
Over the years, families have told us something we understand deeply: children grow fastest when the adults around them are growing too.
A child can learn a breathing strategy in class, but if home feels tense and unpredictable, that strategy is hard to use. A child can practice respectful communication with peers, but they learn the most from how the adults in their lives communicate with them and with each other.
Parents also carry a great deal. Many are navigating demanding work, homeschooling, siblings with different needs, ADHD or autism, grief, or patterns from their own childhoods. They deserve real support, not another list of rules.
The Intentional Family Experience
The Intentional Family Experience is a private, live family guidance program for parents and caregivers. It was created as a sister business alongside Quantum Montessori, and it is entirely separate from school enrollment: families do not need to attend Quantum Montessori to apply, and Quantum Montessori families are never required to take part.
Its focus is the adults. Rather than teaching parents to control their children, it helps adults understand what may be happening beneath recurring patterns, become more aware of their own responses, set appropriate boundaries, and build a calm, authoritative home rooted in understanding and responsibility.
The experience includes eight private, live weekly family meetings, original resources such as a workbook and Home Guide manual, live check-ins, and a private group for ongoing support. Families apply, meet for a consultation, and are accepted in small intakes.
It is educational family coaching, not therapy, and it encourages families to work with licensed professionals when their needs go beyond coaching.
How the two fit together
Floating Hearts supports children. The Intentional Family Experience supports adults. Together, they offer families a shared language and a shared direction.
A child who is learning about courage and emotional awareness in Harmony in Action may come home with new words for their feelings. A parent who is working on co-regulation and clear boundaries in The Intentional Family Experience can meet those words with patience and consistency. Neither program places the burden of change on the child. The adults lead, and the children are supported.
