Why this course
Jewish American History & Heritage
Jewish American History & Heritage will explore multiple waves of migration and the different communities they created in the United States.
Students will study religious freedom, immigration, labor movements, entrepreneurship, newspapers, education, medicine, science, arts and entertainment, military service, antisemitism, civic life, and Jewish American institutions.
As with every course in this collection, the goal is not a list of famous people.
Students will study how communities actually functioned, adapted, built institutions, and influenced American life.

Context + evidence
Students investigate systems, historical context and sources, keep evidence notes, and explain what evidence supports and what it cannot establish.
Research + interpretation
Students compare and evaluate sources, build evidence-based arguments, and synthesize their learning in a substantial portfolio or digital museum.
