Mexican American History & Heritage
Mexican American history does not begin at the border.
In development · K–12 · Online in Canvas · Waitlist families hear first, with founding-family pricing and a sample lesson.

Why this course
That is one of the principles behind this entire collection.
It includes land, nations, war, citizenship, labor, agriculture, business, education, law, migration, culture, family, civil rights, and communities whose history is older than many of the borders that later surrounded them.
Mexican American History & Heritage will give students room to study that history as its own American story.
The course will explore the U.S.-Mexico borderlands, the Mexican-American War and its aftermath, land and citizenship, migration, labor, agriculture, education, military service, entrepreneurship, civil-rights movements, art, language, foodways, community institutions, and contemporary Mexican American life.
Students will work with maps, treaties, newspapers, photographs, legal records, oral histories, art, and primary sources.
Specificity matters.
Borderlands, long-standing communities in the Southwest, war and annexation, labor, agriculture, education, civil rights, business, culture, science, migration, and political life.

One question. Room to grow.
Concrete + story
Short stories, images, objects, movement, art, sorting, maps and vocabulary introduce historical ideas in concrete ways.
Build + connect
Students map, classify, build, observe, research, write, and connect people and events to larger ideas about community, invention, geography and human needs.
Context + evidence
Students investigate systems, historical context and sources, keep evidence notes, and explain what evidence supports and what it cannot establish.
Research + interpretation
Students compare and evaluate sources, build evidence-based arguments, and synthesize their learning in a substantial portfolio or digital museum.
